ARTS & CULTURAL CENTREOUT-OF-THE-GROUND PROGRESS ON OUT-OF-THE-BOX THINKING!

One of the most exciting new amenities in the revitalized Regent Park, the 60,000 square-foot Regent Park Arts & Cultural Centre is coming out of the ground! Located off of Dundas St. just east of Sackville Street, construction is well underway on this phenomenal Centre from which PAINTBOX Condominiums will rise. The Regent Park Arts & Cultural Centre will provide a dynamic facility to showcase the wealth of artistic and cultural talent in Regent Park, and is poised to be the next major cultural destination in the City of Toronto. Operated by the not-for-profit organization Artscape and set to open in 2012, the Centre encompasses three floors, each with a distinct theme and amenities to match it.

EXPERIENCE:The first floor features a 400-seat multi-purpose performance/event space and large outdoor performance court. This level is dedicated to music, dance and theatre performances, film screenings, cultural festivals and community events.

LEARNING:This level is designed to foster arts-based learning through  the development of talent in music, visual arts and film, thereby building a sense of place and understanding of the area’s history.

INNOVATION:With the goal of helping to make the world a better place, on the third floor, as many as 60 small non-profit, social mission and creative organizations from across Toronto will find a home. These workspaces will be operated by Toronto’s highly acclaimed Centre for Social Innovation to make Regent Park a catalyst for positive social change, discovery, growth, collaboration and transformation in the neighborhoods and beyond.
